AI Assessment & Proctoring
Access technical assessments history, configure proctoring setups, complete examiner sessions, and review evaluation scorecards.
Overview & Purpose
Highrr's AI Assessment environment evaluates your coding capabilities, communication skills, and psychometric profiles. To ensure academic integrity for corporate recruiters, tests run inside a secure, proctored browser workspace that monitors browser focus and hardware feeds.
1. Technical Skill Selection & Integrity Checks
When you launch an assessment, you must complete the 7-step **Integrity Calibration Checklist** before the questions are unlocked:
- Environment check: Confirm you are sitting alone in a quiet room with sufficient lighting and no background noise.
- Time-Limit Guidelines: Review the session rules. Most assessments have a 10-minute limit and require at least 5 minutes of active session to compute scoring metrics.
- Violation Indicators: Acknowledge rules regarding tab-switching, disabling copy-paste, opening developer tools, or having other faces visible on camera.
- Identity Verification: Confirm that you are the registered student taking the test.
- Connection Speed Test: The app runs a speed diagnostic check. A stable connection (minimum 1MBPS upload speed) is required to stream webcam audio/video.
- Consent Agreement: Check the Privacy Policy and Proctoring Terms boxes.
- Media Stream Permissions: Grant browser access to share your webcam feed and desktop screen. Once granted, you can click "Start Assessment".
2. AI Examiner Session Workspace
The active proctored interview workspace includes these features:
- AI Question Panel: Displays questions sequentially. An audio voice will read the question aloud.
- Speech-to-Text Recorder: Click "Start Speaking" and answer verbally. A **Live Transcript Box** shows a real-time text transcription of your spoken response.
- Countdown Timer: Displays the remaining time. The assessment saves and submits automatically when the timer reaches 0:00.
- End Session Control: Click "Submit" to complete early. If your test duration is under 5 minutes, a confirmation alert warns that your attempt may not yield a valid score.
3. AI Evaluation Reports
Once your assessment is graded, your report card shows detailed feedback parameters:
- Evaluation Scores: Percentages showing your performance across technical problem solving, communication quality, adaptability, and culture fit.
- Video Playback: A recorded video feed of your proctored session is available for review. This recording is retained on the platform for 45 days.
- Strengths Summary: Written evaluation notes generated by the AI grader, outlining key strengths and areas of improvement.
4. Proctored Coding Rounds
When participating in company-specific screening coding assessments, you enter a customized technical sandbox:
- Webcam Proctor Box: A small webcam preview panel remains visible in the corner to monitor focus.
- IDE Code Editor: Supports theme changes (Light/Dark mode) and font size adjustments.
- Testcase Console Drawer: Write custom inputs, compile your solution, and click "Run Testcases" to view execution outputs.
- Tab Focus Warning: Exiting fullscreen mode or switching browser tabs displays warning alerts. Exceeding 3 warnings results in automatic exam submission.
5. Psychometric Evaluations
For behavioral screening rounds, you will complete a psychometric evaluation questionnaire:
- Rating scale: Questions are evaluated using 1 to 5 bubbles (Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree). Selecting an option automatically saves and loads the next question.
- OCEAN Trait Report: Displays your score profile across five primary personality traits: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism.

FAQs & Troubleshooting
Q: Why did my assessment scorecard display a "Session Invalid" status?
A: Highrr evaluations require a minimum testing time of 5 minutes. Submitting earlier or closing the browser window before this threshold prevents the system from calculating your score, and the attempt is marked invalid.
Q: The compiler console is displaying a timeout warning.
A: To prevent infinite loops, the testcase compiler limits code execution to 5 seconds. Optimize your logic and re-run your testcases.
Q: What happens if my internet connection drops during an exam?
A: Highrr has built-in offline resiliency. If your connection drops, your code changes and proctoring telemetry are saved in your browser's local memory. Once your connection is restored, the buffered changes sync automatically with the server.
Q: How many times can I retake an adaptive coding assessment?
A: You are allowed up to **3 attempts** per skill badge. Each attempt is separated by a mandatory **3-day cooldown** period to allow time for preparation.
Q: What triggers a proctoring flag during an assessment?
A: Flags are triggered by: **Tab Switching** (exiting the test window), **Audio Peaks** (external voices detected), or **Out of Frame** (webcam feed missing a face).
Q: How many warnings am I allowed before my assessment gets auto-submitted?
A: The proctoring system permits a maximum of **3 warnings** for tab switching or exiting fullscreen. Exceeding this limit immediately terminates the session and auto-submits your code.
Q: Can I use external libraries or packages in the compiler editor?
A: No. The sandboxed compiler contains standard language libraries (e.g. Standard template libraries for C++, standard libraries for Python, Java, or JS). External package imports are blocked.
Q: How long does it take for my AI evaluation scorecard report to generate?
A: Reports are compiled instantly. Once you click **Submit**, the grading algorithms process your code execution and verbal transcripts in under **60 seconds**.
