Calendar & Virtual Rooms

Review placement schedules, configure camera/microphone devices, and join active proctored evaluation rooms.

Overview & Purpose

The Calendar portal coordinates your evaluation schedules with corporate recruitment panels. From this workspace, you can track job drive deadlines, scheduled Group Discussions (GD), project presentations, and live technical interviews. You can calibrate your hardware devices before joining active sessions.

1. Calendar Schedule Grid

The calendar is displayed as a monthly schedule grid:

  • Month Navigator: Click the navigation arrows to browse upcoming months.
  • Day Selection: Clicking any day highlights the specific events, deadlines, and interviews scheduled for that day in the side panel.
  • Status Filters: Filters help you organize events by category:
    • Upcoming: Scheduled interviews and evaluation slots active for this week.
    • Deadlines: Closing dates for placement drives.
    • Pending: Slots that require your confirmation or booking action.
    • Expired: Historical events and past interview records.

2. Virtual Collaboration Rooms

Clicking "Join Room" on a calendar event guides you through a device checklist before entering the active session:

Device Calibration Lobby

A mandatory staging screen to verify your camera, audio, and network stability.

  • Video Preview Window: Displays a live stream of your webcam to check framing and lighting.
  • Hardware Dropdowns: Select specific webcams or microphones if you have multiple devices connected.
  • Microphone Volume Bar: Speak into your microphone; a pulsing green indicator checks that your audio registers clearly.

Technical Interview Room

A split-screen coding editor workspace connecting you directly to a corporate interviewer:

  • Live Video Feeds: Displays your video and the interviewer's feed side-by-side.
  • Shared Code Sandbox: A multi-language editor (supporting C++, Java, Python, JavaScript). Your code updates are shared with the recruiter in real-time as you type.
  • Compiler Sandbox: Click **Run Code** to compile your solution. Results, including console outputs and test case match statuses, display in a sliding output drawer at the bottom.

Project Presentation Room

Designed for presenting slide decks or demonstrating software tools to an evaluation committee:

  • Slide Deck Viewer: Upload and display PDF presentations. Use the forward/back controls to advance slides.
  • Whiteboard Annotator: A toolbar containing pens, highlighters, brush sizes, and color palettes. Draw directly onto your slides to emphasize points.
  • Screen Share Toggle: Click Share Screen to share your desktop or browser tabs. Click Stop Sharing to return to slides.

Group Discussion (GD) Room

A multi-user conference room for group discussion rounds:

  • Speaker Grid: Displays all participants in a grid. The system automatically highlights the active speaker with a colored border.
  • Raise Hand Button: Click the "Raise Hand" button to request speaking time. An icon appears next to your video feed to notify the moderator.
  • Round Timer: Displays a countdown clock indicating the remaining time for the discussion.

Joining & Participating in Virtual Rooms Workflow

Follow these steps to access and participate in a scheduled live session:

1 Open your Calendar settings, select the active date, and click the "Join Room" button.
2 Grant your browser permissions to access your webcam and microphone when prompted.
3 Verify your webcam video feed and speak into the mic to test the volume indicator, then click "Enter Room".
4 Interact with your evaluators: write code, share your screen, or raise your hand depending on the room rules.
5 Once the session completes, click the red "Leave Room" button to exit and return to the dashboard.

FAQs & Troubleshooting

Q: Browser block alerts prevent my camera and microphone from opening.

A: Click the lock icon next to the URL address bar in your browser. Ensure the Camera and Microphone settings are toggled to "Allow". Reload the page to reset the media connection.

Q: The compiler returns "Execution Timeout" error when running code.

A: The code execution compiler enforces a 5-second timeout limit to prevent infinite loops (e.g. loops missing termination criteria). Review your code structures to ensure loops terminate correctly and compile again.

Q: I lost connection during my interview. How do I reconnect?

A: Highrr features an auto-reconnection tool. If your internet drops briefly, the system will attempt to restore your editor session. If the page freezes, reload your browser immediately to reconnect and rejoin your active room.

Q: How early should I join a scheduled Group Discussion (GD) or Interview lobby?

A: You should join the lobby exactly **10 minutes** before the scheduled start time. This allows you to calibrate your camera, microphone, and verify WebRTC signals.

Q: What happens if I miss my scheduled interview slot?

A: Missing your slot sets your attendance status to `ABSENT`. You cannot reschedule directly; you must contact your college placement committee to request a fresh slot.

Q: Can I run custom test cases in the interview compiler workspace?

A: Yes. The coding editor panel includes a **"Run Custom Tests"** button. You can write custom input strings to debug your program execution before final submission.

Q: How does the calendar determine timezones for corporate drives?

A: The calendar matches your local browser timezone settings automatically. If a recruiter schedules a drive, it translates to your local time zone dynamically.
